Conveyor Industries recently designed, built, and installed an intake system for Firth’s new Masonry block plant in Auckland’s Hunua Ranges. It involved getting raw products (sand, pumice, and crusher dust) from the storage bins and truck, to holding hoppers and onto two mixing plants.
The final design consisted of: one intake hopper, five belt conveyors (including one shuttle conveyor), five storage bins, two large structural mixing stands, structural members throughout the building, as well as fencing, guarding, handrails, and walkways. The belt conveyors ranged from a small linking conveyor of 12 m, to long incline conveyors of over 30 m.
The install was safely completed in a challenging environment, while working alongside numerous other contractors and in adverse weather conditions.
