Andritz contracted Conveyor Industries to complete: layout drafting, construction of bucket elevators, drag chain conveyors, screw conveyors, and all the walkways, platforms, stairs, ladders, and associated support steel work for the Solid Energy Renewable Fuels Pellet Plant in Taupo.
The draughting was completed using the latest 3d Inventor software, a system we have been using for the past six years. Due to the overseas locations of the Andritz offices and other key contributors, we arranged online conferences to overcome the geographical and logistical issues associated with developing a system of this complexity. The client and other contributors were closely involved with the layout and design of the project, experiencing a ‘virtual tour’ in 3d.
“Being able to provide a detailed 3d model has significant benefits for our clients,” said Managing Director, Dennis Hey. “2d modelling required components such as structure, dimension, and design to be outlined on separate individual drawings and relied on the expertise of draughtsmen to notice clashes and errors. The 2d process meant fixing problems such as incorrectly placed holes and clashing pipes, it was time consuming and customers weren’t able to see the whole product while it was being developed.”
As a result of implementing the software, clients feel more involved in the design process – providing greater clarity on the outcome of their projects.
Since completing this project, Conveyor Industries have worked closely with Andritz using the same system in a variety of industries throughout New Zealand and Australia.
